Hi, I’m May. I’m a petite fashion blogger, beauty junkie, and serial product-tester based in the New York / New Jersey area. La Vie en May is my personal corner of the internet where I write about the beauty products, fashion finds, DIY projects, and small lifestyle things I love (and occasionally the ones I don’t).
The short version
I’m 5’2″ on a good day. I’ve been trying to find clothes that fit since middle school. I’ve been wearing makeup since I was sixteen and reviewing it semi-seriously since I started this blog. I have very strong opinions about retinol, lipstick formulas, and whether something is actually petite-friendly or just labeled that way.
What I write about
Beauty. Skincare reviews are the heart of the blog. I take notes for a week before I write about a product. I cover brands like SkinCeuticals, Kiehl’s, MAKE Beauty, Bite Beauty, Smashbox, and many of the smaller brands that come through monthly subscription boxes. I care about formulas, texture, and whether something actually does what it says.
Fashion. Petite styling is my niche. I review brands that genuinely cater to petite frames, share OOTDs that work for under-5’4″, and write hack posts about how to make non-petite clothes work without paying for tailoring on every piece.
DIY. Mostly seasonal — nail art for summer, pineapple themes when fruit is in season, holiday gift-wrap ideas, simple crafts you can do in a weekend.
Lifestyle. Restaurant picks in NJ, NYC weekend itineraries, gift guides, bridal squad ideas, the everyday things that make life feel a little nicer.
How I work
Most products I cover are ones I bought myself or received in subscription boxes. When something is sent to me for review, I disclose it in the post. I never accept payment for a positive review and I won’t write about something I haven’t actually tried. If a product underwhelmed me, I’ll say so — life is too short to gas up a mediocre face cream.
