I don’t get many pimples anymore, but I do have some scarring from previous ones. I’ve been searching for products that would help the scars heal and that’s when I came across SkinCeuticals Retinol .5 Night Cream. I haven’t tried this particular brand before. I’ve seen it around in drugstores, but I never actually stopped to take a look at the display. For those who aren’t familiar with the brand, SkinCeuticals is a company dedicated to science and skincare. They do extensive research on a wide range of active ingredients, formulas and antioxidants that provide the best results. They focus on three main pillars: Prevent, Protect & Correct.
I looked into Retinol. It’s a chemical compound that is a form of Vitamin A. It promotes cell growth, which can fade scarring and discoloration, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and clear up acne. I’ve researched reviews, focusing on people who are very similar to me:18-24 category, combination skin, fair and who are using it to get rid of acne/acne scars. Just as a tip, you should always look for people similar to you, that way you can understand how they reacted to the product. It will give you a more accurate idea of what it would be like using it. Almost everyone raved about the product, a few said that it didn’t work much. Given the small amount of people who didn’t like it, I decided to invest $43 in this product.
+ Very light
– Not effective in treating acne/acne scars
Overall, did not work for me. It seems like I was in the small minority with this one. I might give the 1.0 solution a try because of the higher potency, but I’m not holding my breath.
